Nominating Process
The process of electing new leaders begins with the entire membership. You are each invited to fill out a confidential nomination form (see below), from which the Committee will carefully prepare the proposed slate of Deacons, Elders, and Trustees. Before presenting the slate to the congregation, the committee will confirm that each nominee is willing and able to serve.
Ruling Elder
Ruling Elders exercise leadership, government, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of WPC. They serve faithfully as members of the session. Ruling Elders should be persons of faith, dedication, and good judgement. Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel, both within the church and the world. Ruling Elders serve three-year terms.
Deacons
The office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound judgement should be considered. Deacons serve three-year terms.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is responsible for management of the building, grounds, and other real property of the church. The board also manages all special permanent special funds of WPC. Trustees serve three-year terms.
