THIS WEEK I LEARNED

Children's Ministry at WPC

NURSERY

In Nursery, our youngest friends heard the story of Creation. Afterward, they went on their very own Creation Treasure Hunt.  We had fun exploring and learn all about the wonderful things God made.

GODS PLAY

n Godly Play, children experienced the story of the Church Calendar. Just like the weather has its seasons, the Church has seasons too; and one season always leads into another. This helps us remember that God’s story is always unfolding. I wonder what your favorite season is and why?
If you have not yet filled out a registration packet for your child, please stop by the Children’s Check-In station to pick one up.

CHAPEL

Today in chapel we will begin learning about why we praise and worship God. Today we learned about the call to worship. We began practicing liturgy that the children will use when they help lead worship on November 2. We are practicing a song that we will sing on World Communion Sunday.

We reviewed our classroom promises. We would appreciate it if you would go over them again with your children:
We will:
Listen when others are speaking and wait our turn to share
Keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves
Use calm, walking feet to move around the room
Use kind and encouraging words
Follow directions and make safe choices

MUSIC

We continued learning our first piece of the year, “This is my Fathers World."  The children will be singing this on October 5th for World Communion Sunday, so mark your calendars now!  .

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Midweek Manna (Wednesday evenings Sept 17& 24, Oct 1 & 8 )
Join us for a four-week intergenerational experience blending faith and music. Each evening begins with dinner at 5:15, followed by a special artistic presentation in the sanctuary. Children will have quiet creative activities to work on while listening. This is a such an enriching way to explore faith as a whole church family.
  • Spooktacular Organ Concert (October 29 – 6-7 pm)
Don’t miss this special fall event co-hosted by Children’s Ministry and the Music Department. Come enjoy mysterious and playful organ and carillon music in our dimly lit sanctuary. After the concert, enjoy cider, cookies, and our Build-Your-Own trick or treat Bag in the Garden Court. Costumes are welcome (nothing too spooky, please)! It’s a perfect mix of music, memory, and fall fun for all ages.
  • Save the Date – November 2 is Children’s Sunday where the children take on the leadership roles at the 10:30 worship service and the chapel singers will be preforming too.

Please be sure you have downloaded the WPC app and joined the Children’s Ministry chat. This is where all of our important events and information will be sent out. We will also share fun pictures of the things we do on Sunday mornings here. It is under the app’s message icon. Find the discover tab and search for Children’s Ministry to join.

Please sign your children in for chapel each week at the new kiosk.
This lets us know who will be attending, a way to contact you if needed.
