THIS WEEK I LEARNED

Children's Ministry at WPC

We want each child to know they are loved, valued and safe in our ministry. One of the ways we do this is by following our group promises. Please take time to review it with your child before class so that they understand the expectations. We will:
  • Listen when others are speaking and wait our turn to share
  • Keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves
  • Use calm, walking feet to move around the room
  • Use kind and encouraging words
  • Follow directions and make safe choices

GODS PLAY

Today we continued our story of Moses. We followed him into the wilderness of Midian, where he became a shepherd. While he was tending to the sheep one day he met God in the most unexpected way- a burning bush! We acted out this story, made our own burning bush and explored what it is like to be a shepherd in our Summer Immersive Egypt series. We also wondered about ways God still speaks today and how God promises we are never alone.

NURSERY

The last several weeks we’ve been learning about the Fruit of the Spirit with the help of our new friends the Beary Patch Bears! Each week, the children will meet a different bear who helps us learn about a special fruit of the Spirit like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and more. During this series, the children will get to create colorful banners each week, sing songs, explore sensory play, and share simple stories about God’s love and kindness. This week we are hearing about Self-control.

CHAPEL RESUMES THIS FALL

During the summer recess, children who normally attend chapel are encouraged to worship alongside their families and apply what they’ve been learning throughout the year.

Families have two options for worship during the summer months: you are welcome to join the service in the Sanctuary or in Frederickson Hall.

Please note that worship bags will be available during the 10:30 a.m. service to help engage children. Frederickson Hall also offers alternative seating, sensory support, and activity-based options for children to use during the service. It’s a wonderful opportunity for your children to continue practicing what they’ve learned in chapel all year.

This is such an enriching way to explore faith as a whole church family.
  • Volunteers needed! Please consider joining us this fall as a Children’s Ministry Volunteer. We need at least 2 adults in Sunday school . You do not have to volunteer every week, even 1-2 times a semester makes a big difference and you get to know the children. Please let me know if you are interested!
