Children's Ministry at WPC
We want each child to know they are loved, valued and safe in our ministry. One of the ways we do this is by following our group promises. Please take time to review it with your child before class so that they understand the expectations. We will:
- Listen when others are speaking and wait our turn to share
- Keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves
- Use calm, walking feet to move around the room
- Use kind and encouraging words
- Follow directions and make safe choices
Nursery and Godly Play
Today in Nursery and in Godly Play, we are celebrating the accomplishments of the year by learning about how gratitude, care and compassion are all part of giving thanks. We are working on a special art project.
Music
The Chapel Singers will begin learning the songs for VBS for June 1-4.
Chapel
In our sensory-friendly service, we hear the Jesus shares in the gospel of Luke 24:13-35 about the Road to Emmaus where we learn that sometimes we do not recognize God walking beside us until later.
Sensory-Friendly Worship
In our sensory-friendly service, we hear about a letter sent from Paul the church in Corinth as we reflect on 1 Corinthians 3:10–15. Paul said he helped lay a foundation, like a builder lays the first stone of a house and that the most important foundation is Jesus Christ.
Important Reminder
April 19 in both Sunday School and Chapel we will celebrate the end of our program year and create a special “thank you” gift to be given to Heather in recognition of the years of service dedicated to the children of the church.
April 26 Marathon Sunday – no worship services, no Christian education, no chapel – please sign-up to helps serve the runners at our water stop located on the front of the church steps.
May 3 is Youth Sunday, we will have Sunday school but no Chapel. Children are invited to sit with Rev. Junkin and grab a special worship bag for use as we worship together.
