Children's Ministry at WPC
We want each child to know they are loved, valued and safe in our ministry. One of the ways we do this is by following our group promises. Please take time to review it with your child before class so that they understand the expectations. We will:
- Listen when others are speaking and wait our turn to share
- Keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves
- Use calm, walking feet to move around the room
- Use kind and encouraging words
- Follow directions and make safe choices
Nursery and Godly Play
Today in Nursery and in Godly Play, we are starting to prepare for Easter by beginning learning about Lent. Our lessons from now till Easter focus on the season of Lent as a time when the church prepares to enter the mystery of Easter.
Music
The Chapel Singers are learning a song to be sung on Palm Sunday.
Chapel
In Chapel, we have are focusing on learning all about Lent. We focused on Lent being a way to “listen” and that God’s spirit guides us as Lent gives us time to reflect. We played several games that involve listening carefully.
Sensory-Friendly Worship
In our sensory-friendly service, we explored the story in Acts 19:23-41. This story comes after the Great Commission, when Jesus’ followers are traveling and sharing the good news. Paul is in Ephesus, an important city known for trade and for the temple of Artemis. Many people make their living crafting silver shrines. Paul’s preaching leads some people to turn away from these idols, which causes fear, anger, and a city-wide disturbance. The story ends not with violence, but with calm and dispersal.
Important Reminder
Please take time to read through the bulletin for all upcoming Lenten activities. Be sure to stop by the Lenten Spirituality Center, which opens on Ash Wednesday and will be available through March 25. Families are invited to explore the space at their own pace with a self-guided experience.
Take time to read the new issue of the spring Stack of Stones. Details include the Easter Egg Hunt, Holy Week Schedule, VBS information, and much more!
